By seeing London, I have seen as much of life as the world can show.
The UK is made up of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland (not to be confused with Great Britain, which doesn’t include Northern Ireland). By far, the UK’s top destination is London, where you’ll find majestic architecture and vibrant city life. Famous landmarks, such as Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and, unsurprisingly, the Tower of London can all be found here. But there is much more to the UK than London alone.
Many who visit the UK want to enjoy the splendid castles, which range from functional royal residences to ancient ruins. Windsor Castle was one of the late Queen’s favorite homes, while Holyrood in Edinburgh and Sandringham bring a different feel. Among the older castles, Hever Castle is popular and well-preserved, while Edinburgh Castle and Alnwick Castle offer a more historic perspective.
For those who enjoy Shakespeare, there is Stratford-Upon-Avon, where you can visit the great author’s birthplace and the house he grew up in. Meanwhile, Harry Potter fans can visit Edinburgh and Oxford, which inspired JK Rowling to write the saga of the famous wizard.
On the other hand, if you are a music fan, Liverpool is a must as the birthplace of The Beatles. Here, you can visit the Cavern Club where The Beatles gave their first concert and were discovered.
There is also a wealth of natural scenery to explore in Devon and Cornwall, as well the Lake District and the many protected forests.
