VIP Tour of Rome’s Most Famous Catacombs

Discover a different side to Rome on this full-day tour of two of its most famous catacombs.

This unique tour allows you to discover a different side to Rome away from the Colosseum, Vatican City and classic city sights. With the expertise of a private guide by your side, you will visit two of Rome’s most famous catacombs to gain an enriching understanding of the city’s past.

Where possible, this tour will begin with a tour of the Capuchin Crypt, also known as the “Bone Church”, as it was constructed from the bones of more than 4000 bodies (all Capuchin Friars). The bones have been arranged to decorate the walls of several tiny chapels within the crypt, creating an eerie and yet spiritual atmosphere. Note that the opening times and availability of the crypt are dictated by the Vatican Office. If it is not possible to visit on your chosen day, an equally impressive crypt will be selected for your tour.

After exploring the Bone Church and stopping for lunch in an Italian restaurant, your private guide will take you to another crypt of a different style and explain the history and unique features of these macabre buildings.
