About the Champagne Region

The Champagne region in France is a glorious stretch of countryside nestled about 100 miles east of Paris in the northeast of France. There are five wine-producing districts (Aube, Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, Montagne de Reims and Vallée de la Marne) and it is only sparkling wine from these areas that can be labeled as “Champagne”. In fact, sparkling wine has been produced in this region since the 17th century.

Reims is perhaps the best-known city in the region and is famous for far more than its glorious Champagne. It has an absolutely magnificent cathedral, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was once used in the coronation of French kings.
