Aix-en-Provence is a beautiful city in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of France with a diverse genre of attractions to enjoy. This unique day tour gives you the opportunity to not only see the many cultural attractions to be found in the city, but to also delve into the past with a tour of the famous dinosaur egg fossil fields near Aix-en-Provence. The area is so rich in fossil eggs that it is nicknamed “Eggs-en-Provence”.
Your tour will start with a morning city tour of Aix-en-Provence, allowing you to see the city’s many fountains and charming architecture. You will visit the Old Town to see 16th, 17th and 18th century mansions, as well as Aix Cathedral. There will also be the opportunity to see Place de l’Hôtel de Ville, where the Town Hall and 16th-century clocktower are located.
You will then be treated to a market tour, so that you can buy some local delicacies to enjoy for a picnic lunch, before the tour continues with a visit to the fossil fields. You will be taken by private car to Sainte Victoire, where you will have free time to enjoy the country trails and even search for dinosaur eggs yourself!

About Aix-en-Provence
Aix-en-Provence is a beautiful city in the south-east of France in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region. It is a place full of history and culture, with many charming attractions and decadent local cuisine. It is well known as the birthplace of artist Paul Cézanne and there is a pretty walking trail that you can take from his childhood home in the city to his studio. Today, his studio is an art museum dedicated to the painter.
As well as its rich artistic culture, Aix-en-Provence is a site of historic importance. The Sainte-Victoire mountain near Aix-en-Provence is well regarded as one of Europe’s richest sites of fossil dinosaur eggs. Eggs were first discovered in the region around 150 years ago, making Aix-en-Provence very popular with geologists and archaeologists. It is also a wonderful destination for families as children will delight in seeing real dinosaur eggs at the Aix Museum.
