About Aix-en-Provence

Aix-en-Provence is a beautiful city in the south-east of France in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region. It is a place full of history and culture, with many charming attractions and decadent local cuisine. It is well known as the birthplace of artist Paul Cézanne and there is a pretty walking trail that you can take from his childhood home in the city to his studio. Today, his studio is an art museum dedicated to the painter.

As well as its rich artistic culture, Aix-en-Provence is a site of historic importance. The Sainte-Victoire mountain near Aix-en-Provence is well regarded as one of Europe’s richest sites of fossil dinosaur eggs. Eggs were first discovered in the region around 150 years ago, making Aix-en-Provence very popular with geologists and archaeologists. It is also a wonderful destination for families as children will delight in seeing real dinosaur eggs at the Aix Museum.
