About Verona
Verona is a romantic city on the Adige River in the Veneto region of Italy. It can easily be reached on a day trip from Lake Garda or Venice, but is equally lovely to stay in for a few days.
Being the inspiration for Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, it will be no surprise that the city is full of romantic architecture, not least of all Juliet’s famous balcony! There is also a vast Arena, which was once a Roman amphitheater and is now used for opera, as well as the intriguing Castelvecchio Museum.
Once being one of the most prosperous cities in Italy, Verona has some glorious city squares to visit. The most famous is perhaps Piazza delle Erbe, where you’ll find the ancient town hall. There are also some picturesque bridges, including Ponte Scaligero and Ponte Pietra.
